Have you seen "The Reader" yet? It's all right if you haven't - it had a limited release, and while it was nominated for an Oscar in the best picture race this year, it wasn't even close to being favored to win, and a lot of people skipped it in favor of that popular Millionaire movie. But that's the beauty of DVD, isn't it? If you miss a gem of a movie like "The Reader" during its theatrical release, you can still enjoy a moving, intense experience in the privacy of your own home.

Katie Winslet does an amazing job portraying a woman who is with an underage boy who is also a Nazi guard all during the Holocaust. Her character is obviously in the wrong, but she is so lovable that the audience can't help loving her.

This is very much a film about regret, though never in the way you might expect. It's surprising and clever, enjoyable but serious. Every frame is lovingly shot, and there are moments of such utter beauty and tragedy that it can be occasionally difficult to bear. There's a very good reason Kate Winslet won her first Oscar for the role, and this is definitely a performance to watch more than once to make sure you haven't missed any spot of brilliance.

This particular movie is not like other holocaust films. It is very original and turns the situation into something unexpected.

This movie is amazing and definitely a must see and buy on DVD. You will love it and want to watch it again with friends.
