West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum! What a funky name Kasabian chose for their new CD, and third studio album. The British Alt-Rockers album was let loose on June 8, 2009. Producer by Dan, The Automator, Nakamura. He's the hip-hop and electronica guy from America, who got some attention from his production of Gorillaz's first.

The album is named after a mental institution that was built in the 1800s in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. The original name was West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, but the name was later changed to Stanley Royd Hospital/Psychiatric Hospital.

Underdog. what meaning lies behind that first song's title on the album? It also has the distinction of being used on a commercial that marketed Sony Bravia's televisions. Rosario dawson, who was kind enough to join in on a duet for the tune West Ryder/Silver Bullet. Anyone could have gone to Kasabian's official website and downloaded Vlad The Impaler (the song, not the actual scary dude) from March 31 2009 to April 3, 2009. Fire, the authentic first release came out on June 1, 2009.

Other tracks include Where Did All The Love Go?, Take Aim, Swarfiga, Thick As Thieves, Fast Fuse, Happiness, Secret Alphabets, and Ladies & Gentlemen (Roll The Dice). The song Road Kill Cafe is a Japan Only Bonus Track and Cunny Grope Lane is a Japan Bonus Track and iTunes Pre-Order. The popular video game FIFA 09 features Fast Fuse. The song was also WWE pay-per-view event Cyber Sunday 2007s official theme song.

You wondering who were the influences on this album? Pink Floyd is mentioned. The album flows smoothly without any empty spaces, according to Tom Meighan the bands lead guy. He also thinks that there are some parts of all three albums that have a familiarity. The latest record is more out there and kaleidoscopic.

Kasabian has a dream. Quentin Tarantino could make that happen. Rosario Dawson got him to listen to her duet on West Ryder/Silver Bullet. Quentin was so impressed that he wants to use it for one of his film soundtracks. Sergio Pizzorno wasn't surprised, The bands guitarist thinks West Ryder Lunatic Asylum sounds like a soundtrack. Quentin has no doubt the music would make people jump up and move! He sniffed out the Daft Punk, Clash, and Rolling Stones influence. The music tosses you around at high speed with it's uninhibited uniformity. Don't let it pass you by.
