I've been a fan of Tom Cruise since his first appearance in the Outsiders. When I heard about this movie, I couldn't wait to see it. I am usually not a big fan of history movies but this one had me engrossed from the first few minutes. Cruise played an exceptional character that I forgot all about his younger days.

Valkyrie is a film that take a look at the Hitler regime in a way we have never seem before. Cruise's character, Claus Von Stauffenberg, was one of the few who fought to take down Hitler, the most evil tyrant the world has ever seen. It has a suspenseful and entrancing plot and give an in depth look at the time, place and minds of the characters.

The film was taped in various locations, that the actual events occurred, throughout Germany. Joanna Johnston, also give the movie an authentic feel with her outstanding costume designs. Although it is a historical film you get so into the characters that it almost feels like modern times.

And I must say, that I am actually glad that I got to see this movie on DVD instead of in the theater, because it has tons of extras and features, plus at home you didn't have the distractions of other rude theater goers. The plot was intriguing and I didn't want to miss a moment of it.

The musical score was fabulous and added to the setting and the impact of the film. Although some of the reviews, for the film, seem to be mixed, but if you enjoy a film packed with suspense, good character development and some romance this is the perfect film for you. You are also sure to gain a little more insight on WWII, I know I definitely did!
