50 Cent, possibly one of the most unique and best rap artists of all times, has finally released his newest album; Before I Self Destruct. This album was originally scheduled for a Christmas 2008 release, and the delay has had fans in anticipation for this fourth, and possibly the best album to date, by 50 Cent.
50 Cent has been criticized for his work being to similar to others within the genre, but to his true fans his unique style is more of a social commentary on the world. His music gets fans excited and is meant to evoke feelings. Although some say that his lyrics go past the point he is trying to make, others feel that it is an expression of freedom of speech and that the underlying message is what is important.
When the original delay on the release occurred in November 2008, 50 Cent said it was because he wanted to get his singles into position and out there in the public forum, before releasing the album containing these singles; however there is some speculation that the delay has more to do with Eminem and Dr Dre as they both have pending albums as well that have progressively been leaking to the press, and they worked on much of their individual works on these albums as a combined effort.
Weather legitimate reasons or publicity stunt, the anticipation from fans continues to grows. As the June 30th date draws near, 50 Cent fans eagerly await the new album, hopefully it will stick this time.
