Any company needs good employees. They will make things so much easier in life. Or harder! People want to work. Everyone wants some decent working conditions. If there is stress and tension within your organization, the customer will feel it. There are simple ways to create an atmosphere that promotes a positive feeling between all people. You don't want people napping on the job, but keeping a nice balance is important.

Although, many companies realize the importance of hanging onto their employees and that making them want to stay is truly the key, many businesses struggle with how to actually accomplish this. The following are some ideas from the top companies on how to hang onto your good employees.

Don't hang onto dead weight. Employees who don't do their work or who are not productive weigh down the whole team and will cause you to lose good employees. After all, the good employees want to work with those who are serious about their job and not carry those who are lazy and non-productive. Keep morale up. Creating a fun work atmosphere can actually help you keep more employees than giving raises will. Have fun days, parties and trips to encourage happiness in your employees.

Reward them. Rewarding a job well done can really help to increase productivity and improve morale and retention. Obviously a pay raise can be a reward, but there are other ways to reward employees like with great logo merchandise and when presented in front of the whole staff can really help to increase your staffs strive for excellence. Sit down with your employees and make goals with them. Make goals for their work performance as well as your overall business and then include your employees in the decision making process. Everyone participating in setting and reaching goals can really help employees feel as if they are part of your business.

A suggestion box. Allowing employees to air their concerns, criticisms and suggestions in a non-threatening anonymous fashion and then addressing these concerns lets employees know that you are willing to make changes to improve the workplace when need be. Encourage interactions outside the workplace. Those employees who feel as if they have formed relationships with those in the workplace are more likely to stay for the long haul.

Promotional clothing makes a great incentive to hardworking employees. It is a fabulous idea to show your appreciation with promotional gifts every once in a while.
