This does take time and a big fat lot of patience too. If you do the bathrooms and the kitchen first it makes it more livable as the work goes on.
If you are not sure about having enough funds to complete the project then you will probably be able to get some help with a home equity loan or credit line. You will have a better time getting one if you have some of the work completed and the house has gone up in value. You will find rates and info online about that and about homeowners insurance. Don't wait til the last minute to look at different insurance companies for the purpose of protecting your house. Anyone that makes a house payment will need homeowners insurance.
