If you are thinking about health insurance at all then you are on the right track. Even if you are young, single, and without a care in the world it is a good idea to have some sort of coverage. Accidents do happen and illnesses do pop up out of nowhere. If you have some coverage then you will be protecting many aspects of your future existence.

You probably have a general idea of a life plan. You have some things that you want to do, maybe some exploring in the world, finishing your education, and things like that. Eventually you will want to make major purchases and settle down. You can keep your credit safe from harmful medical debt by having some sort of coverage in place, just in case.

And you could say that surfing some massive waves has a high expectation of possible hurts that could send you to the doctor. There is no reason to stop doing the things you love.

If you are enjoying this lifestyle then you need to protect yourself from just those major possibilities. It is the cheapest insurance available, and it means you pay a small monthly amount but will have to pay a pretty large amount until your coverage starts. If you are only using this for something crazy happening, like tumbling down the mountain instead of climbing up, it will be perfect.
