Don't go off to college without being armed with health care coverage. It probably feels like you couldn't possibly spend money on anything else because of what you have already spent and are planning on in the next few years. If your parents want to get you covered they need to look at the Health Coverage Tax Credit. It can be pretty good for assisting with the price. If you are in excellent health and just want to be on the safe side than starting a health savings account is something to consider. You could get school insurance if they have it and that is usually a good price.

There are people that have the opinion regarding staff members at the clinics at the university, that they are not the best or they are not skilled enough to be where they are. They say this because they use people that are still still in school. A student doctor can still be a doctor as well as a nurse. They may be getting training still but that doesn't mean that they are not capable and legally allowed to be in the position that they are in. People that are still learning are more likely to be up to date with new discoveries.

Sometimes you will find that students want to go off campus for their care. If that is going to happen then they will need to have either insurance coverage for that or cash. You can get health insurance but the company will have some requirements that are hard for students to meet. Usually the insurance company will only approve someone if they work full time or nearly full time hours and are employed steadily. These all present a problem for a full time student.

Sometimes students will find full time work and get health insurance that way. This is extremely difficult to do though. It makes for too little down time which means that there is usually sleep deprivation. There are not enough hours in the day to do all that a full time student needs to and work on top of all that.

If you are in the position of needing to get insurance coverage because you are heading off to school, find out now what your options are. You don't want to make college any harder than it needs to be. Find out if there is insurance coverage through school and find a way to pay for it. You may be able to get on a work study program at school and they are very understanding about dealing with your school schedule.

If you have decent individual health insurance you can stay healthy through your school time. Is is a brilliant idea to check the university health insurance plans because they might be an option.
