Has it happened to you too? So many people are losing jobs right now that it has become the norm. Unfortunately many people have found that when they pick up a new job, and they think that all is good, they end up in the same position again after getting laid off. Companies have been cutting pay and changing policies to try and survive with all this turmoil. Often when they cut salaries the people that have been with them move on because they have no intention to work for less than what they are accustomed to for the same job. That company will hire some new people and then it will still either go under or start to downsize again. Hence all the people that just got hired, lose jobs again.
You have to go ahead and check out what is available in terms of health insurance coverage. Anyone that had health insurance with a job and got laid off can get COBRA for a good price and stay covered. Might as well take care of applying for that while you are taking care of your business. There is nothing wrong with looking into other plans to see if there are some good deals with temporary insurance available.
Don't stop yourself from getting other possible benefits. There could be a lot of help for you and your family during this time. There could be food that will keep everyone happy for a few months. If your position worsens there is also government housing that you can apply for. Medicaid and insurance for kids can be looked into pretty easily as well. You have been paying taxes for years and now you can lean on Uncle Sam.
The first thing you want to do when you become unemployed is look for all the help that is out there. That is why the whole system is in place, to help hard working people who are out of work through no fault of their own. When you are thinking about a new job and how you can make money, think outside the box because you might have something right there that never occurred to you before.
You might find self employed insurance to come in handy if you go from unemployed to working for yourself. Anyone interested in individual health insurance needs to look at a few decent websites for more info.
