An insurance broker also works as a representative of you to the insurance companies and will therefore get all the quote for you, review the policies and speak on your behalf. The broker would then contact you with all that he has collected and discuss which plans would be best and why.
Once you have determined which policy will provide the best coverage at the lowest cost, you will need to submit an application and deposit and set the policy up so that it will begin upon the expiration of your current policy. You would never want to have a lapse in coverage between policies as that will cause you numerous problems with the health insurance companies and could result in a much higher premium, as they do not want to cover a period of time when you did not have an insurance policy. They worry that you developed a major problem during that lapse.
