The Outback is a rugged place with a lot of wilderness and tough terrain with plenty of four wheel
drives. If you want to go out on a four wheeler you need to have experience, it's not for the beginning driver.
Traveling around the Outback on a four wheeler is serious business, there is potential for great harm including death if you don't know what you are doing and don't know the area. The roads are not very good and they are tough to navigate. If you don't know anything about four wheeling it's best to travel with someone who has a thorough knowledge of the region. Hazards such as potholes, tree roots and the poor roads can do damage to radiators, fuel tanks and tires if you don't know how to do it properly.
The best advice when in this region is to leave the four wheeling to the professionals and to make sure that you are prepared in case of emergency. It is also very important to make sure that you find out information regarding road conditions and possible road closings from local officials as they will best know which roads might become impassable after a storm or during a particular time of year.

The area is full of places to explore which is fun but you must always keep your safety a priority, don't be risky and go without some guidance from the locals.
One of the most challenging aspects of the Outback is, no matter whether you are 4 wheeling or driving a rented car, the roads are very difficult to navigate. So don't leave without talking to the local people, having a current map, water, first aid kit, a GPS navigation system and a cell phone with a sim card so you will be ready if there is an emergency.
