Marrying someone is a big deal, and should be done without agreement between you on major issues. P
rior to making any wedding plans the issues listed here should be discussed, because falling in love is grand but living together hopefully for a lifetime takes some work so everyone needs to be in agreement on major issues. So have a chat about these topics, and if there is disagreement you may want to hold off on the marriage until you both have worked it out. Money - One of the biggest issues that cause marriage problems is money. Before marriage discuss money. Who will be the primary bread winner, who will pay the bills, and will you have a joint bank account or two separate ones? These are all questions that need to be addressed and agreed upon prior to getting married. Children are another big issue, if you want them but your fiance doesn't, or if it's the other way round, the wedding needs to be put on hold. Most people are not going to change their minds so don't hold hope for that, children are a huge commitment so this must be fully agreed to from the beginning. Talk about expectations about the marriage and what each one of you expects of the role that will be played during the marriage. It seems obvious but it's not really as everyone grows up in a different household watching their parents so that instills some programming people aren't aware of as an adult. Talk about which person will be the cook, do the cleaning, childcare and other things, this will make it smoother when these questions arise later. The sex in the relationship is also important, there needs to be balance between you, if there is a problem now then there could be an issue later which could leave to marriage infidelity after the wedding. A commitment in your intimate life will take into consideration changes in sex drives over time, but having a good compatibility in sexual relations will help the success of your marriage.
